Save Cahuenga Peak T-Shirt Design Contest

By Editor | 02.19.10 | share | 2 comments

Our campaign to save Cahuenga Peak has attracted international media attention, and now's your chance to be a part of it! We're hosting a t-shirt design contest, with the winning designs to be featured on our site, Facebook page (currently with over 15,000 fans), and sold in the Save Cahuenga Peak Webstore!

Whether you're a professional or an amateur all designs are welcome. Just submit your designs to our Flickr pool, and users can vote on their favorite designs by clicking the 'Favorite' star above the photo. The design with the most Favorites at the end of the contest wins!

More details are on the flyer shown above, or download a high-res PDF of the flyer at the link below. You can even print it out and post it around your school to help spread the word.

Looking forward to seeing all your great designs!

The Brief
The land around the Hollywood Sign is for sale. The Trust for Public Land (TPL) has until April 2010 to save it from real estate development that would forever deface this world-renowned landmark--an icon of both Los Angeles and the entertainment industry.

Our challenge to you: let your creativity inspire others to help save one of America's most recognized landmarks through an original design that captures the spirit of the campaign. Need more inspiration? Check out our website, www.savehollywoodland.org. We've also posted some helpful photos on Flickr, where you'll upload your artwork (but more about that later).

The winning design will become the official t-shirt of the national campaign to Save Cahuenga Peak and will be available for sale in our webstore. Imagine your design worn by our celebrity supporters and fans, visible to all on the world stage!

The deadline to submit your design is February 28, 2010. Public voting begins February 15 at the Save Cahuenga Peak Flickr Group http://www.flickr.com/groups/cahuenga_tshirt/. A judging panel will evaluate the three (3) most Flickr-favorited designs, and will choose one (1) winner.

The contest winner will be announced March 5 at the campaign website: www.savehollywoodland.org.

What are you waiting for? Put your artistic mind to work and create a design that evokes what's at risk for the land and the legend. Show us what the Hollywood sign, and the magnificent peak above it mean to you.

How it Works
1. Create your T-Shirt design.
2. Log on to Flickr www.flickr.com. If you do not have an account, you can sign-up for free.
3. Upload your image - After logging in, upload your image(s) using Flickr's upload tool.
4. Tag it! - Tag your image with Cahuenga-TPL using the "tag" feature in the right-hand column of the photo page.
5. Join the Cahuenga Peak Contest Flickr group - Click "Join this Group" on the group's homepage: http://www.flickr.com/groups/cahuenga_tshirt/
6. Send your Image to Our Group - use the "Send to Group" function above the image you want to submit to add it to the Cahuenga Peak Contest photo pool.

Guidelines
1. All submissions must be your original work and may not include brand names or logos. You warrant that you own the rights to any photos, images, or illustrations used.
2. There is no limit to the number of submissions you may enter.
3. Accepted design formats include; JPEG, TIFF, GIF, BMP or PNG
4. All designs should be high resolution for printing.
5. The design should be family-friendly; no nudity, graphic language, inappropriate images or other branding will be accepted

Legal Details / Your Rights
By submitting your design you warrant that the design is your original work and that you own the rights to any photos, images, or illustrations used.

You retain ownership and full rights to all images submitted, but grant The Trust for Public Land the right to use your images in support of The Trust for Public Land's Campaign to Save Cahuenga Peak.

By submitting your design to the Flickr Group: Cahuenga Peak T-shirt Contest, you agree to give The Trust for Public Land (i) a nonexclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, and publicly display designs and/or images you submit and (ii) the right to use your name, city, and state or Flickr ID on any campaign-related website including the TPL website, www.tpl.org, and in other online forums and publications.
