Cahuenga Peak -- one hundred and thirty-two acres with a 360 degree view of the city of Los Angeles; a site that must be preserved for the residents of, and visitors to, Los Angeles. Many were surprised and appalled to learn that this piece of land, adjacent to Griffith Park, is privately-owned and could be divided for development of luxury residences, limiting the availability of this incredible piece of L.A. real estate.
The peak, in the Santa Monica Mountain range is home to California native flora a fauna as well as serving as the backdrop for perhaps the most recognizable nine letters to grace a hillside in the world, The Hollywood Sign.
The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks maintains over 15,000 acres of parkland with over 400 neighborhood and regional parks in addition to the only significant wilderness area in the middle of any large city in the world, Griffith Park. Our mission is to provide enrichment to the residents of Los Angeles with safe, welcoming parks and to provide stewardship of our environment. We cannot afford to lose Cahuenga Peak.
We must work together to save this mountaintop.
