Our Great City includes Cahuenga Peak

Anyone who hikes Cahuenga Peak knows why these 138 wilderness acres in the Santa Monica Mountains need to be preserved. A trail along the ridge of the mountain offers sweeping views of the Los Angeles basin on one side and the San Fernando Valley on the other. Lake Hollywood, a pool of blue surrounded by forest, lay at the foot of the mountain. At the end of the trail stands one lone tree. It's a stone pine that hikers call "The Magic Tree" because it's the only one that survived the devastating fire in 2007.

I want every Angeleno, whether now living or yet unborn, to experience this spectacular spot in the middle of our great city. The only way that can happen is if we protect it now. We have the opportunity now. We must act now.
